The creation of art glass is done through glass blowing, fusing, slumping, flame work and many other techniques. Working with glass dates back to prehistoric times and was extensively developed in Egypt and brought to the fore by the Romans. Some of the earliest glass art can be seen in the European cathedrals that incorporated stained glass windows. Great ateliers like Tiffany, Lalique, and the Corning schools in upper New York State and Stubbe glass works took art glass to the highest levels. Galleria Tempest offers art glass from our regions most promising emerging glass artists. We specialize in both decorative and functional glass from the exquisitely crafted glass handbags by Chris Tedesco to beautifully functional serving pieces by Colleen Cotton.
